Care at home in Digby Court, Dorchester: a wonderful environment that needs more support

Today Ros Kayes, our Parliamentary Candidate, visited Digby Court in Dorchester - an at home care facility run for adults with learning difficulties which allows the residents to have a home in environment, while still getting the care they need. She saw the: "I would like to thank the staff and residents of Digby Court, an East Boro run extra care housing facility for adults with learning difficulties in Dorchester who showed me round today. Really wonderful, dedicated staff and homely and spacious accommodation!"

Help to Rent

Liberal Dems have announced plans for a new Help to Rent scheme targeting support at young working adults who still live with their parents but want to move out and rent their own place. Under the 'Help to Rent' scheme, young working people in England will be able to borrow up to £1,500 (£2,000 in London) from the Government to go towards their tenancy deposit.

Anthony Felstead talks about Ros Kayes' record on Environmental Sustainability in West Dorset

In 2010 Ros Kayes was successful in obtaining funding for a local action group, Dorset Chalk and Cheese, to teach green skills. The project was called Skills for Self Reliance. This unique public private partnership brought together a range of local training providers to teach skills in areas such as permaculture, wood fuel systems, solar energy, field to plate growing, eco-business support, coppicing, building compost toilets, running an organic allotment and barn building. It taught over 3,000 people in the three year period of the project, which provided certificated qualifications as well as training for interested members of the community.
