Today Ros Kayes, our Parliamentary Candidate, visited Digby Court in Dorchester - an at home care facility run for adults with learning difficulties which allows the residents to have a home in environment, while still getting the care they need. She saw the: "I would like to thank the staff and residents of Digby Court, an East Boro run extra care housing facility for adults with learning difficulties in Dorchester who showed me round today. Really wonderful, dedicated staff and homely and spacious accommodation!"
However, Ros went on to add "There are worries however about the impact of the Care Act and of the difficulties of recruiting staffing with commissioned hours available to service users. Larger numbers of residents are being diagnosed with dementia which brings extra issues with caregiving. It's imperative that national Government funds social care properly."
The Lib Dems are committed to continuing to merge Health and Social care and to get a better deal for carers - click here for more information.
