In 2010 Ros Kayes was successful in obtaining funding for a local action group, Dorset Chalk and Cheese, to teach green skills. The project was called Skills for Self Reliance. This unique public private partnership brought together a range of local training providers to teach skills in areas such as permaculture, wood fuel systems, solar energy, field to plate growing, eco-business support, coppicing, building compost toilets, running an organic allotment and barn building. It taught over 3,000 people in the three year period of the project, which provided certificated qualifications as well as training for interested members of the community.
Anthony Felstead who helped Ros write the bid speaks about it here.
