Cllr Janet Page
Janet grew up and went to school in Beaminster. She worked as mobile librarian serving the villages in West Dorset.
She was extremely involved with the Playgroup movement, a College lecturer and she was Under Fives Support Officer for Dorset: supporting, advising and training at playgroups, day-care nurseries and parent & toddler groups. This involved budgeting, planning, policy-writing, quality control, co-ordinating an NVQ centre and training its assessors.
First elected to Beaminster Town Council in 1972, Jan is in her second period as Chairman. She was on the steering group that set up what became Magna Housing Association and has since become a Board Member and sometime Chairman.
Jan is involved in many local societies and is currently a Trustee of Beaminster Charities and Chairman of Beaminster Sports Association. In 2005 she was nominated and became an Honorary Townsman.
