Justine McGuinness
Justine McGuinness has worked in strategic communications for over a decade, involved with projects that span the policy spectrum - rural affairs, home affairs, health, trade and industry, international development, defence, environment and education. She is Director of a specialist public affairs consultancy that focuses on environmental, agricultural, health and consumer affairs issues. Ms McGuinness is a member of several organisations including the Institute of Directors.
In 1997, Ms McGuinness stood against Frank Dobson in Holborn and St Pancras. During the same period she was on the General Election committee that planned the national Liberal Democrat campaign, chaired by the then leader of the Liberal Democrats, Paddy Ashdown.
Having been active campaigner to encourage women to participate in public policy and stand for elected office, Justine was elected Chair of the Women Liberal Democrats in 1996.
While at London University, she was elected sabbatical Vice President of the University of London Union (1991) and was the Liberal Democrats’ candidate for President of the National Union of Students (1992). In 1992 she set up the Reformer magazine, a political journal (the first edition was published in 1993).
Justine McGuinness grew up in West Dorset, where she lives.
