Andy Canning Selected as Parliamentary Candidate

Long serving Dorchester councillor Andy Canning has been selected as the Lib Dem Parliamentary Candidate for West Dorset should there be an early general election.

Andy has been involved with campaigns to save our local Youth Centres, rural bus services, smaller local libraries and our countryside from over development. He also led the Lib Dems pro-Remain campaign in the EU Referendum earlier this year.

Andy Canning is currently the Chair of the Dorchester Transport and Environment Plan working group, the Dorchester Heritage Committee and WDDC’s Audit Committee. He has been a Dorset County Councillor since 2013, a West Dorset District Councillor since 2003 and a Dorchester Town Councillor since 1999. Andy was Mayor of Dorchester in 2012-13.

He lives in Dorchester with his partner, Mel Lane, and when he’s not at university their son, James.
